The generic name Rangpur Lime (Citrus limonia) refers to a group of varieties resulting from the hybridisation between an ancient Mandarin and a Citron, so they are considered Acid Mandarins. For a long time, it was thought that the Rangpur were a hybrid between Lemon and Mandarin, hence their scientific name. They are ancient hybrids found naturally in the citrus center of origin.
The Rangpur Red Philippine tree is vigorous, open growing and with few thorns. Its flowers are small and purple. Its fruits are small, orange or even red, with many seeds, thin skin and a very acid but refreshing pulp.
