Our purpose is to preserve and promote the knowledge of citrus fruits.

The Fundació Todolí Citrus

Todolí Citrus Fundació is a project born from the natural reaction of Vicente Todolí to his family’s link to citrus growing and the urbanistic threat that could put an end to that memory. Today, with nearly 500 varieties from all corners of the planet, this orchard is probably the largest collection of citrus fruits grown outdoors in the world.

The core of the Foundation is its citrus collection, which makes up the El Bartolí Botanical Garden. This unique garden is located on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, in a region with a long tradition of citrus cultivation. It has some 500 different varieties of citrus, grown on an area of 4.5 hectares.

A maxim for Todolí Citrus Fundació and its founder, Vicente Todolí, is to create and share knowledge, which has become a key element of the Fundació’s role in our society. This thinking involves putting research at the center of numerous projects.

This Laboratory was created to make it available for research in the use and application of citrus fruits, both in gastronomy and the culinary industry, as well as in other companies such as pharmaceuticals, perfumery and cosmetics, or in any other sector interested in citrus fruits, either in their pure state or from their essential oils or other transformations.

Multiple actions are established around the collection, including the dissemination not only of citrus and its biodiversity, but also of the Valencian citrus landscape, cultural practices that respect the environment or the ecosystem that is established in a growing environment without the use of pesticides.
