Origin data

The Orange Lemon is probably a hybrid between a lemon tree and a sweet orange tree, but both its parentage and origin are unknown. It is characterized by producing large fruits that resemble lemons, but with orange pulp and a mild acidity combined with a flavor reminiscent of sweet orange. Occasionally, its hybrid nature is evident in small orange sections that appear on the fruit's skin.

Tree and fruit description

Very vigorous, leafy tree with an erect stance and thorns. Large leaves that do not show purple pigmentation at bud break, while the floral buds are indeed purple. Fruits are generally large, with a predominantly heart-shaped morphology due to the presence of a small apical nipple. Bark is slightly rough, thick, and ochre yellow upon ripening. Flesh is orange, grainy, and moderately juicy, with a mild aroma. Juice has low acidity and somewhat bland flavor. With few or no seeds.

Uses

Its main attraction is the color and texture of its pulp, which can be used in green or fruit salads.
