Meyer Lemon (Citrus meyeri ) was “discovered” for the West at the beginning of the 20th century in China. In 1908 it was brought to the USA, where it gained popularity for its culinary use. They are medium-sized trees that grow well in pots. They flower and produce fruit throughout the year. Despite its common name, it is not a true lemon.
Meyer Lemon fruits are medium sized with very thin rind. It may present a soft neck. It is sweeter than common lemons and the rind reaches an orange color at the end of ripening season. It is used as a substitute for lemon for seasoning and to prepare lemonade, given its lower acidity.
