Mandarins and their hybrids

Origin:

USA

Availability:

November - February

Origin data

Variety obtained within the citrus improvement program of the Orlando Experimental Station in Florida (USA) after a crossing made in 1942 between the Fino clementine and the Orlando tangelo. It was commercialized in 1964, reaching Spain in 1978, where it is known as Clemenvilla, although it is not actually a pure clementine, but rather a hybrid.

Tree and fruit description

Medium to large-sized tree, vigorous, with a tendency to form a spherical and very leafy crown. It exhibits characteristics of true clementines. The fruit is medium to large in size, spherical but flattened at both poles. The skin is a reddish-orange color, very attractive, thin, and shiny, adhering to the flesh, which makes it somewhat difficult to peel. Its aroma when peeled is especially fragrant and distinctive. The flesh is juicy, firm, with a characteristic flavor, different from that of clementines.

Uses

Of high quality, both for fresh consumption and for its juice.
