Origin data

The Clementine Monreal was discovered in Algeria in the 1940s, and its main commercial problem was the presence of numerous seeds. The Monreal Apireno is a "seedless" (apireno) cultivar that results from the selection of a mutation induced by irradiation of the original Monreal, carried out in Calabria (Italy) in 1970. Although it may have some seeds, they are present in significantly fewer numbers than in the original variety.

Tree and fruit description

Medium vigor tree, with a rounded growth habit and dense foliage. Lanceolate leaves with a pointed apex. Fruits slightly larger than those of the Common Clementine, and with earlier ripening. Fruits with a depressed globular shape at the poles. Thin bark of orange color, not tightly attached to the pulp. Juicy, sweet pulp with an orange-yellow color.

Uses

Fresh consumption.
