Its main characteristics are the plant's great resistance to cold, being able to withstand temperatures as low as -20°C, and the rounded morphology of its fruits.
Tree and fruit description
Small tree with a compact appearance. Oval leaves of a soft green color. Small fruits with a rounded to subglobose morphology. Smooth bark with apparent essential oil pockets, aromatic, fine, and bright yellowish-orange in color. Thick albedo. Scant pulp, acidic, pale orange in color. Contains seeds.
Uses
Its consumption fresh is very popular, especially in Korea and Japan, although they are also prepared whole in preserves (sweet or savory) and are used for making jams.
