Origin data

The Pursha Lime may be a hybrid between a Rangpur Lime and a Shekwasa Mandarin, which could contradict the general belief that it originated and was selected in the Mediterranean Basin. It is included in the group of limes because, like most of them, it has a low acid content in its pulp, as well as small fruit size. It is sometimes also referred to as Roman Lime.

Tree and fruit description

Small tree with irregular morphology and spiny branches. Small, lanceolate leaves, different from other limes. Fragrant and continuous blooming from spring to autumn. Small, spherical fruit with both poles slightly flattened and depressed. Slightly swollen bark, soft yellow in maturity, aromatic, and easy to peel. Juicy, flavorful pulp, bitter and sweet, reminiscent of a mandarin, with a subtle orange color. It has seeds.

Uses

Plant with high ornamental value due to having flowers and fruits in different stages of ripeness. Its main attraction is the contrast between its fresh taste and its appearance, as it can be eaten like a tangerine but with a complex and surprising flavor.
