The small island of Procida (pronounced Próchida) is located off the coast of Naples (Italy) and has a strong tradition of cultivating lemon trees. The Procida lemon is characterized by its thick albedo and mild acidity.
Tree and fruit description
Not a very vigorous tree, with an open shape and moderately productive. Shiny leaves, typical of lemon trees. Fruits of medium size, predominantly round in shape, with a slight apical nipple and a flat base. Pale yellow rind, with a faint aroma. Edible albedo, thicker than that of lemon trees. Bright, juicy, moderately acidic, and fragrant pulp. Contains seeds.
Uses
It can be eaten fresh in slices, with or without sugar. Its albedo is used in salads.
