Origin data
The name of the Cidro Rhobs el Arsa translates from Arabic as “bread of the garden,” probably in relation to the forbidden fruit of the Garden of Eden. It is a very popular variety in Morocco and is likely a hybrid.
Tree and fruit description
The fruits are round, slightly flattened at the poles, and have the most significant characteristic of presenting a large nipple at the apical part, surrounded by a depressed areole. The rind can be more or less rough, yellow-orange in color, and bitter in taste. The albedo is inedible. The pulp is acidic, very juicy, and aromatic, and contains small seeds.
Uses
Its juice can be used as a substitute for table lemon, adding a fruity sour touch. It could also be associated with the uses of bitter orange, such as in the making of jams and amari.
