Origin data
This cultivar corresponds to the original clementine, which emerged in the late 19th century in Algeria, as a result of a natural cross between a Mediterranean mandarin and a sweet orange. It was introduced to Spain in 1925, where it is known as Clementino Fino. It has great organoleptic quality and is very aromatic, although this varies depending on the rootstock onto which it is grafted. It has had limited commercial success due to the small size of the fruits, their short shelf life on the tree, and the irregularity of production (alternate bearing). On the other hand, it is the source of many clementines, both in Spain and other countries.
