Origin data

Variety of lemon tree cultivated almost exclusively in the province of Catania (Italy). It is characterized by producing small-sized fruits. It is named after the nickname of the Sicilian citrus grower who selected this variety.

Tree and fruit description

A somewhat weak tree that presents compatibility issues with grafting, but is very productive. Fruit generally small in size, with variable morphology but predominantly globular, featuring a small apex nipple and a bulging neck. Bark is smooth or slightly rough, with a somewhat dull yellow color and medium thickness. Thin albedo. Flesh is pale yellow, juicy, with only a few sporadic seeds. Its hollow central axis is characteristic. Acidic, refreshing juice. Its aroma is reminiscent of Monachello lemon, from which the Quattroochi variety was selected.

Uses

It can be used as a more refined table lemon than the Monachello.
