This publication is a tribute to citrus fruits of the 18th century, reproducing unique hand-colored copper engravings, and shows 170 varieties of citrus fruit. Fragrant and colorful illustrations that transport us to a time when these fruits were exotic.

The merchant J. C. Volkamer of Nuremberg, a horticultural enthusiast, commissioned an extravagant and astonishing series of large-scale prints centered on limes, lemons, and bitter oranges; in these surreal scenes, the fruits appear suspended in ether, majestic, life-size, floating like planets against a background of villas, gardens, or distant landscapes.
