Origin data
Lumia is a heterogeneous group of citrus hybrids that are believed to have originated in the Mediterranean. They were already named by agronomists and historians in the 13th century. They are hybrids of Pummelo, either with Citron or with Lemon. Like their parents, lumias are highly diverse in the morphology of their fruits. The lumia of Sarzana is characterized by the orange color of the rind and pulp of the ripe fruit.
Tree and fruit description
Vigorous and productive tree. Large leaves with slightly winged petioles. Large fruits, pear-shaped in morphology, although some fruits have a defined neck. Smooth, aromatic bark that is yellow-orange when mature. Yellow pulp in the unripe fruit, orange later, it is juicy and has a complex flavor, with some character of pomelo, as well as the acidity of cider and even hints of bergamot. It has few seeds.
Uses
From this fruit, both the peel (for flavoring) and the juicy and surprising pulp can be used, both ripe and before reaching peak ripeness.
