Origin data

The origin of the Loretina Clementine is curious and complex, as it results from several successive selections. It was selected from a spontaneous mutation detected in the Marisol Clementine, which in turn is a variety derived from the Oroval Clementine, and this one from the Fino Clementine. Loretina was discovered by José Femenia in 1992 in Tormos (Alicante, Spain). The traits that favored its selection were the absence of seeds and being a variety that is somewhat earlier than the Marisol Clementine itself.

Tree and fruit description

Vigorous tree (may have thorns) with a rounded growth habit. Lanceolate, small leaves. Small fruit with an oblate morphology. Bark is bright orange, slightly rough, and easy to peel. Its organoleptic characteristics are superior to the Marisol Clementine. Seedless in the absence of cross-pollination.

Uses
