Ancient lemon tree cultivar resulting from a selection process of the common Femminello lemon, obtained in the Sicilian city of Syracuse (Italy). It is characterized by being an early and highly productive variety. It may possibly derive from the Femminello Sfusato or di Favazzina.
Tree and fruit description
Vigorous tree with a predominantly vertical growth and very productive, although it is sensitive to wind. Fruits of medium-large size, ellipsoidal morphology with a protrusion at the apex, generally offset from the vertical axis, and a rounded base with a slight crown. Slightly granular bark, typical color of Femminello lemon and mild aroma. Shiny, juicy, and very acidic pulp. It has seeds.
Uses
Its culinary use as a table lemon centers on its juice, abundant and strong.
