USA

Origin data
Tangelos are a group of particular cultivars that have commercial importance, especially in the Americas. They are primarily the result of controlled crossings between mandarins and grapefruits, conducted in the U.S. between the late 19th century and the early 20th century. The Tangelo Webber is the result of a cross between a Dancy mandarin and a Duncan grapefruit, carried out in 1909 in Florida.
Tree and fruit description
Medium vigor tree with a rounded shape. Leaves similar to mandarin, but wider. Fruits of medium size and globose morphology, with a predominantly flat apex. Thin and slightly aromatic bark, light orange in maturity with a finely bulged texture. Orange pulp, similar to mandarin, juicy and with a flavor that well represents its hybrid origin, as it retains some bitterness of grapefruit alongside the aroma and sweetness of mandarin. It has seeds.
Uses
It is mainly consumed fresh, but it can be a good complement for dressings.
