Origin data
This is a nuclear selection of Sanguinello Moscato obtained in 1949 in Acireale (Sicily, Italy), with the aim of establishing the type cultivar for its subsequent geographical designation. Sanguinellos are one of three pigmented orange varieties originating from Sicily, along with Tarocco and Moro. In fact, Tarocco is an early mutation of a common Sanguinello. The Sanguinello Moscato is characterized by having medium acidity, which gives it great value among pigmented oranges, making it the most important Sanguinello cultivar in Sicily.
