Origin data

Selection of what appears to be a chimera of the original bitter orange. It was thought to be extinct for a long time but was recovered in the 18th century. Its origin is established in the French city of Menton, where, thanks to its orography and special microclimate, there is an ancient tradition of citrus cultivation. This variety is part of the bittersweet bitter oranges, similar to the first oranges that arrived in Europe, and it can also display some peculiarities in its fruits.

Tree and fruit description

Vigorous and productive tree. Large fruits among the bitter ones, with very varied morphologies but low weight in relation to their size. Thick bark, yellow-orange in color, with varied textures, ranging from smooth to very rough, even with bulges. Pleasant-tasting pulp due to its low acidity index, with seeds.

Uses

It has generously sized segments that can be extracted and used in salads.
