Origin data

Variety that apparently originated in Southern Italy, resulting from a natural hybridization between a lemon tree and a cidra. Its name refers to its main characteristic, the albedo of its fruits is edible.

Tree and fruit description

The fruit is round, with a flat base, and has an intense yellow color when ripe. Its skin is quite thin, less rough compared to other cider hybrids, and lacks the typical fragrances of these, despite having very noticeable oil glands. The albedo is edible, thick, very sweet and balanced, with a hint of acidity. It is one of the most exquisite albedos. The flesh is acidic, crunchy, and moderately juicy.

Uses

Its main interest lies in its albedo, with a fine taste and excellent bite, which can be consumed fresh in salads, greens, or fruit. Likewise, it can be used to prepare purées or citrus mousses.
