Origin data

There is no clear data on the origin of this cultivar. It is believed to be the result of a point mutation of an early variety, possibly Owari. It was introduced to Spain from Japan due to its extra-early maturation (goko wase). Among the satsuma cultivars, it is characterized by late flowering and early ripening.

Tree and fruit description

Very low vigor tree, with a tendency to be small in size and slightly open in shape, but productive. Lanceolate leaves with a non-winged petiole, typical of satsuma. Fruit with a distinctly oblate morphology, medium-sized among satsumas. Smooth, thin rind, orange in color and easy to peel. Seedless. Flesh is yellow-orange, juicy, sweet, and with a mild aroma.

Uses

Fresh consumption.
