hort. ex Tanaka
TCF-120

Varietal Group:
Mandarins and their hybrids
Origin:
Spain
Availability:
January 15 - February 15
Origin data
Hernandina is the result of the selection of a spontaneous mutation of the Fine Clementine, detected in Picassent (Valencia) in 1966. It is characterized by the absence of seeds and being one of the latest available clementines (the mutation that led to this variety delays ripening by about 60 days compared to the original clementine).
Tree and fruit description
Vigorous tree, well-developed and productive, but with a certain tendency to alternate bearing. Fruits very similar to those of the Finoclementine, oblate, medium to small in size. Thin, aromatic rind, with an intense orange color except in the apical area, where a characteristic green halo persists. Quality pulp, with a good amount of juice at the optimal ripening stage. If it remains mature on the tree, the fruit loses juice and acidity, and the appearance of the rind may be affected.
Uses
Fresh consumption.
