Origin data

The Heart-shaped Lemon gets its name from the shape of the tree's leaves, which deviates from the typical lanceolate morphology found in other lemon trees. Additionally, it is characterized by the thickness and flavor of its albedo.

Tree and fruit description

A low-vigor but very productive tree, with a tendency to open its branches. Leaves more rounded than usual, reminiscent of a heart shape. Medium to large-sized fruits, elongated, with an elliptical body and a very prominent neck, which can be ribbed. It may exhibit a small apical nipple that retains greenish tones even at maturity. Smooth bark, yellow-green, with small and numerous oil glands. Edible albedo, of medium thickness, with a fresh flavor due to the presence of essential oil iridescence. Pale, semi-juicy pulp, with medium acidity. Contains seeds. Hollow, square central axis.

Uses

Its use focuses on the employment of albedo for the preparation of purees or similar, as well as its consumption fresh. The contained acidity of the juice can also be exploited.
