Origin data
The Carvalhais Mandarin was very popular in Portugal, and it may correspond to the Clove Mandarin from Brazil. Its genetic origin is unknown, although it is thought to be a hybrid of the Mediterranean Mandarin. It is characterized by its very early ripening, earlier than clementines, which is why it has been used in breeding programs, acting as the male parent in the development of the Belleza and Primosole mandarins.
