Origin data

The Bajoura Citron is an ancient Indian variety, whose name likely refers to the city called Bajaura in the northern part of the country. These are trees with large leaves, but not particularly vigorous. Their flowers emit a mild musky aroma, hence their other name, Musk Citron.

Tree and fruit description

The fruits are large, ranging from 20 to 25 cm in length. Their shape is typically ellipsoid, with a flat base and a nipple at the apical part. The skin is very thin, yellow in color, slightly granular, and with very obvious oil glands. The albedo is thick and edible, with a sour touch. The pulp is scarce, acidic, and has numerous seeds.

Uses

Its albedo is candied and can be consumed fresh, in green salads or fruit salads.
