Cultivating the Landscape with Vicente Todolí
To cultivate is also to shape the landscape. The species and varieties we choose to grow, the places where they are cultivated, and the knowledge associated with their care all form part of a living botanical heritage that evolves and is passed down through generations. Cultivated biodiversity therefore speaks of a profound relationship between territory, culture and food.
As part of the public programme accompanying O pequeno é grande, Vicente Todolí will explore these relationships through the work carried out by Todolí Citrus Fundació in the conservation, research and dissemination of citrus diversity.
The Foundation’s collection of citrus species and varieties will provide the starting point for reflecting on the value of cultivated plants as living heritage, as sources of knowledge, and as agents capable of inspiring new ways of understanding and caring for the landscape. Through this conversation, the discussion will expand from cultivation and the conservation of plant diversity to broader questions concerning territory, memory, culture and food.
This event forms part of the public programme accompanying and expanding the themes of O pequeno é grande, creating opportunities for dialogue and reflection on the relationships between art, nature, territory and the ways we inhabit and transform our environment.
