The conscience of the landscape
The third edition of Poecítrics, a festival that fuses poetry with nature, has arrived. In this meeting, which will take place on 14 June at the Huerto Botánico El Bartolí, the Foundation’s headquarters, verses are intertwined with the fresh scent of citrus fruits and the serenity of the natural landscape. This year, under the theme The Landscape Consciousness, we explore how poetry connects us with the space we inhabit.
Poecítrics invites us to stop and rediscover the landscape that surrounds us, based on awareness. One of the main purposes of our Foundation is the protection and defence of the environment, especially through the conservation of the Valencian agricultural landscape, a heritage that forms part of our identity and that, today more than ever, needs to be cared for and preserved.

The earth is made of memory. The Poecítrics festival was born three years ago to celebrate the union of the word and the land. A territory becomes a landscape when we give it affective possibilities, and in this edition we have chosen as a theme, The conscience of the landscape, a commitment and a responsibility with the land.
In this afternoon of verses we will sing and call the beauty of citrus fruits in different languages, from the emotion of the root and the word, from voices arising from the conscience and coming from different landscapes and accents. On this occasion, we will have readings by the poets Leire Bilbao (Ondarroa, 1978), Vicente Gallego (Valencia, 1963), Raquel Lasneros (Jerez de la Frontera, 1973), Joan Carles Martí (Valencia, 1965) and Mario Obrero (Madrid, 2003).
The reading will take place in the citrus paradise on earth: the El Bartolí Botanical Orchard, headquarters of the Todolí Citrus Foundation, where over the years we have created a universe of citrus varieties that is unique in the world.
The poetic word will go hand in hand with the installation of the work Oranges and lemons, by the artist Miguel Ángel Moreno Carretero; a game of mirrors where citrus fruits play, fight and transform themselves. And they question themselves, which is what literature has to do in its constant return to its origin, in the earth, in the Todolí Citrus Foundation.
