Paco Martí (Castellón de la Plana, 1956)
Paco Martí is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Valencian photography. Since the early 1980s, he has developed an independent career, largely removed from prevailing trends, building a personal visual language rooted in the patient observation of place and the small events of everyday life.
His photographic practice is based on walking and direct experience of the landscape. Without following a predetermined route, he returns repeatedly to the same places, allowing time, chance and intuition to guide his gaze. His images reveal seemingly ordinary scenes that, once detached from their familiar context, acquire a poetic quality and become open to multiple interpretations.
Throughout his career, he has presented both solo and group exhibitions at galleries and institutions including Galería Visor, Railowsky, ARCO, the IVAM and Bombas Gens Centre d’Art, and has participated in some of the most significant exhibitions devoted to contemporary Spanish photography in recent decades.
His work has been published in projects such as Dormir, part of the Cuadernos Valencianos series (2017), and La vida sencera (Debacle Ediciones, 2019), a publication bringing together some of the most representative works from his photographic universe and his close relationship with the landscapes of Castellón.
His photographs are held in public and private collections, including those of the IVAM, the Telefónica Collection, the Fundació Per Amor a l’Art – Bombas Gens, as well as the Les Esferes and Quadern S collections.
