Citrus clementina

hort. ex Tanaka

TCF-234

Rubin

Varietal Group:

Mandarins and their hybrids

Origin:

Italy

Availability:

January - February

Origin data

Apparently, it is the result of a spontaneous mutation of the Common Clementine, originated and selected in Calabria (Italy). It is characterized by the reddish color of the peel of the ripe fruit and, under suitable cultivation conditions, also of its pulp, hence its name. It is therefore known as a blood clementine. Additionally, it is a late cultivar.

Tree and fruit description

Medium vigor tree with thorns and a stature similar to other Clementines. Shows little alternate bearing, with good production. Very fragrant flower. The fruit is rather small and slightly oblong in shape. Lacks seeds in the absence of cross-pollination. Rough bark of bright orange color, turning red upon ripening. Tasty pulp that can reach a deep red color.

Uses

The fruit remains on the tree well after ripening.
