Varietal Group:
Mandarins and their hybrids
Origin:
Algeria
Availability:

Origin data
The Clementine Monreal was discovered in Oran (Algeria) in 1940, in the field of Vincent Monreal. It is a clementine very similar to the original Common Clementine, except that it produces fruit with numerous seeds (more than 10 per fruit). This fact, however, results in somewhat larger and sweeter fruits than those of the Common Clementine, and its productivity is more stable over the years.
Tree and fruit description
Medium vigor tree, with a rounded growth habit and dense foliage. Lanceolate leaves with a pointed tip. Fruits somewhat larger than those of the Common Clementine, and with slightly earlier ripening. Fruits with globular morphology, depressed at the poles. Thin orange-colored bark, not very tightly attached to the pulp. Juicy and sweet pulp, of high quality.
Uses
Fresh consumption.
