The Todolí Citrus Foundation, based in Spain and founded by Vicente Todolí, recently visited the town of Mihama in Mie Prefecture (Japan) to observe citrus production in the region.

The visit took place from March 13 to 15 as part of a broader tour of citrus-producing areas across Japan. This marked the Foundation’s first visit to Mie Prefecture.

During their stay in Mihama, a citrus-producing area in southern Mie, the team visited orchards and related agricultural facilities. They observed a wide range of citrus varieties, including locally developed cultivars such as Mie Kinan No. 4 (Mie no Smile) and Mie Kinan No. 5.

They also visited several agricultural sites within the town, where they learned about cultivation methods and the specific characteristics of local varieties.

Throughout the visit, the members of the Foundation showed strong interest in the diversity of citrus fruits on display.

At the end of the visit, they highlighted the rich varietal diversity of Mihama’s citrus industry, as well as the region’s efforts, including its training systems, which left a strong impression.
