Nasnaram (Citrus amblycarpa) is a citrus tree native to West Java, Indonesia, where it is known as jeruk limau. The tree, compact and small in size, has great ornamental value. Its fruits, leaves and flowers are very aromatic, and Citrus amblycarpa leaf extracts are used for soap production.
The fruit of the Nasnaram is small, with an acid taste and great aroma, best appreciated when it is still a little green. Its juice, yellowish-green in color, is also very aromatic and is used as a condiment to enhance typical Javanese dishes such as sambal or soto. Nasnaram leaves are used to flavour drinks and curry dishes.
