ORIGIN DATA:
The name of the Rhobs el Arsa Citron translates from Arabic as “bread of the garden”, probably in relation to the forbidden fruit of the Garden of Eden. It is a very popular variety in Morocco and is probably a hybrid.
TREE AND FRUIT DESCRIPTION:
The fruits are round, a little flattened at the poles and with the most significant characteristic of having a large mamelon in the apical part, surrounded by a depressed areola. The rind can be more or less rough, yellow-orange color and bitter taste. The albedo is not edible. The pulp is acidic, very juicy and aromatic, and contains small seeds.
USES:
Its juice can be used as a substitute for table lemon, providing a fruity acid touch. It could also be related to the uses of the sour orange, as in the elaboration of jams and amaros.
