The small island of Procida (pronounced Próchida) is located off the coast of Naples (Italy), and maintains a long tradition in the cultivation of lemon trees. The Procida lemon is characterized by its thick albedo and mild acidity.
TREE AND FRUIT DESCRIPTION:
The tree is not very vigorous, open growing and moderately productive. Shiny leaves, typical of lemon trees. Fruits of medium size, predominantly globular in shape, with soft apical mamelon and flat base. Pale yellow rind, with a faint aroma. Edible albedo, thick among lemon trees. The pulp is bright, juicy, medium acid and fragrant. It presents seeds.
USES:
It can be consumed fresh in slices, with or without sugar. Its albedo is used in salads.
