November – June

ORIGIN DATA:

Despite its most popular name in Occident (Rough Lemon), it is not a lemon, but an acid mandarin resulting from the cross between an ancient Mandarin and a Citron. This hybrid originated naturally in northeast India and is characterized by its resistance to Citrus Tristeza Virus (CTV), which made it a widely used rootstock.

TREE AND FRUIT DESCRIPTION:

Vigorous and large-sized tree. The morphology of the fruits is very diverse, as they can be oblate, oval, spherical… but, in general, they have a crowned neck and an apical mamelon with a more or less depressed aureole. Rind is rough, bulging and aromatic, with apparent oil glands and color varying from green to orange, through lemon yellow. Pulp is acidic, moderately juicy and aromatic. Presents seeds.

USES:

Can be an interesting substitute for lemon, both for its juice and its aromatic rind.
