ORIGIN DATA:

Selection of what seems to be a chimera of the original bitter orange. It was thought to be extinct for a long time, but recovered in the 18th century. Its origin is established in the French city of Menton where, thanks to its orography and special microclimate, there is an ancient tradition of citrus cultivation. Variety that is part of the bittersweet oranges, like those that first arrived in Europe. This cultivar shows a certain degree of bizarreness in its fruits.

 

TREE AND FRUIT DESCRIPTION:

Vigorous and productive tree. Large fruits among the bitter oranges, with a variety of morphologies, but all of them with high correlation between their size and weight. Thick rind, yellow-orange color and showing a rage of textures, from smooth to very rough, even with bulges. The flesh is medium juicy and has a pleasant flavor, due to its low acidity. It presents seeds.

 

USES:

The good sized segments of the pulp, and given that this is a bittersweet cultivar, can be extracted and used in salads.
