ORIGIN DATA:
Variety that apparently originated in southern Italy, the result of a natural hybridization between a lemon and a citron. Its name refers to its main characteristic, the albedo in their fruits is edible (mangiare means to eat in Italian).
TREE AND FRUIT DESCRIPTION:
The fruit is rounded, with a flattened base and an intense yellow color when ripe. Its rind is quite thin, not very rough in relation to other citron hybrids, and lacks the typical fragrances of those, despite having very apparent oil glands. The albedo is edible, thick, very sweet and balanced, with a touch of acidity. It is one of the most exquisite albedos. The flesh is acidic, crisp and moderately juicy.
USES:
Its main interest lies in its albedo, with fine flavor and excellent bite, which can be consumed fresh in salads, green or fruit. It can also be used to prepare purees or citrus mousse.
