ORIGIN DATA:

Femminello Bergamot has been cultivated for hundreds of years in Italy, specifically in the Calabria region. It is known for the high quality of its essential oils. For this reason it was used as a parental for the creation of the Fantastico Bergamot hybrid. Like all bergamot trees, it is a natural hybrid between Sour Orange and Lemon, although its place of origin is unknown.

 

TREE AND FRUIT DESCRIPTION:

Compact and productive tree, with dark lanceolate leaves that are highly aromatic. Fruits of medium-small size, spherical morphology, sometimes pyriform, with slightly flattened apical area and characteristic persistent style. The rind is thin and smooth, very aromatic and intense yellow in color when ripe. Yellow flesh, sour and acid taste, moderately juicy. It has seeds.

 

USES:

Its main use is in the perfume industry, although it is also used to make jams or liqueurs. Its grated rind can be used to flavor all kinds of dishes.
