ORIGIN DATA:

This lemon cultivar is almost exclusively cultivated in the province of Catania (Italy). It is characterized by producing small sized fruits. It owes its name to the nickname of the Sicilian citrus grower who selected this variety (quattrocchi, meaning four eyed).

TREE AND FRUIT DESCRIPTION:

Not very vigorous tree, which usually presents grafting compatibility issues; but it is very productive. Fruit generally small in size, of variable morphology but predominantly globular, with a small apical mamelon and bulging neck. Smooth or slightly rough rind, somewhat dull yellow color and medium thickness. Thin albedo. Pale yellow flesh, juicy, with just a few sporadic seeds. Its hollow central axis is characteristic. Acidic, refreshing juice. Its aroma is reminiscent of the Monachello lemon, from which the Quattrocchi cultivar was selected.

USES:

Can be used as a table lemon with a more refined appearance than the Monachello parent.
