Vicent Todolí Cervera, the founder
Vicente Todolí (Palmera, 1958) is a contemporary art curator with a long career in the international art scene. Since 2012 he has been artistic director of Pirelli HangarBicocca, an exhibition space managed by the Pirelli Foundation in Milan, as well as president of the Plastic Arts Advisory Committee of the Botín Foundation.
Born into a family dedicated to citriculture for more than five generations, one day he decided to return to his roots to “cure”, in every sense, the land where he was born, saving it from an aggressive urban development program, creating in it and for it a great collection of citrus fruits.
In his professional career he has been Chief Curator and Artistic Director of the IVAM (València), founder of the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art (Porto) and Director of the Tate Modern (London), among other positions.
Some of the awards and recognitions he has received include the appointment as Knight of Arts and Letters, the Order of Santiago da Espada in Portugal in 2003, and he was named Doctor Honoris Causa by the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 2011.
