SHIMABUKU: OCTOPUS, CITRUS, HUMAN curated by Vicente Todolí for the Centro Botín in Santander.
This is the Japanese artist’s first exhibition in Spain. His works, affective and often humorous, are motivated by an anecdote, a conversation or the artist’s own curiosity.
The exhibition includes the installation Something that floats/Something that sinks, 2024, consisting of a series of water tanks in which a selection of Todolí Citrus Fundació’s autumn citrus fruits ‘float and sink’, exploring a strange natural phenomenon: some citrus fruits float while others sink, regardless of size or variety.
